LANDMARKS: Look for 2 rock columns, a grey gate, and the address sign on the left side of gate (see 2 images below). We hope to avoid guests pulling into neighbor’s driveways, so please look for these landmarks. And please note if arriving in the evening hours: It is very dark here at night with little to no light pollution. So please keep this link handy at your arrival and use the above google maps PIN. PARKING: Head up the gravel driveway and the guest gravel parking spot will be on the left side, across from guest house (see images below).
SELF CHECK IN:
- Pin pad for the property gate. - 0520 then press SEND.
- Park car across from guest house in guest parking spot (see images below).
- There is a hanging lock box on the left side of the French doors. Lock box code is 0520. Key is within. Please hang on to key for the duration of stay.
- When inside, locate remote gate opener. Use this to let yourself in/out of property.
***IMPORTANT*** The automatic gate closes by itself approximately FIVE MINUTES after it is opened. Gate DOES NOT give warning prior to closing so please be aware of this 5 minute window.

- Please turn off lights / all electric when leaving the ‘ohanaMOISTURE CONTROL. Mold is an issue here in Hawaii. Please help us keep the Ohana mold free:
- Please feel free to leave windows open during day to keep the space cool while you are away. But close windows/doors at dusk.
- Please run the bathroom tower fan after showeringPEST CONTROL. We live in a rainforest with many pests:
- Flying termites come out at dusk and are highly attracted to light. Please turn off outdoor lighting and close windows/doors at dusk.
- Fruit flies thrive in this environment and love fruit / trash. For your own comfort, feel free to leave trash outside of front door. We will take it away.
- Please keep all food prep, consumption and dish washing in the outside lānai to help reduce pests.GROUNDS:
- Please feel free to make yourselves at home on the front half of the property, but please do not climb on or remove lava featuresQUIET HOURS:
- Please monitor noise levels during quiet hours of 7pm-8amMISC:
- Please remove shoes prior to entering hale (house)
- Please no parties, events, unregistered guests, pets, smoking, or illegal substances on property

- NOTE: If the AC is accidentally left ON after leaving the guesthouse, the AC will be shut down remotely. FYI - We are on a solar and battery electric system. Conserving electricity allows our battery bank to charge to full capacity during the day.
CHECK OUT PROCEDURE - Please wash any used dishes and consolidate trash / recycle outside the front door. Leave the key & gate opener on the coffee table. And please message us when departing. NOTE: The gate will close 5 minutes after you open. Please open the gate right before you are ready to leave.
NOTES ABOUT WILDLIFE / PESTS: East Hawaii is a tropical rainforest ecosystem. We have many varieties of bugs and critters. Some critters you will see here on the windward side are cockroaches, centipedes, and various geckos. And we have an abundance of wild pigs, mongoose, and chickens. To keep the ‘Ohana pest free, we have monthly pest control visits, hire a professional house keeping service, and request that guests keep food consumption outside. We also have a fully fenced property with remote gate to keep the wild pigs out.

Garbage removal on a daily basis. We encourage guests to empty trash often and leave outside front door. We will take it away from there. This will help reduce/eliminate fruit flies and make your stay much more enjoyable.

IMPORTANT & ADDITIONAL GATE AND DIGITAL DOOR LOCK INFO:
In a rare case of gate malfunction, please call Scott at 808 345 5085. If I am not available, please take following steps:
Locate the motorized gate opener arm on the inner side of the gate.
Locate the pin and R shaped cotter pin.
Remove cotter pin, pin, and washer to open the gate manually. And please close gate manually and reinsert washer, pin, and cotter pin.
See images below.If the Ohana door lock is not working OR if you lock yourself out, please find a magnetic key box in the lanai sink cabinet and physical key within. The key box is magnetized to the underside of the sink (but please check within this cabinet is you dont see it on the sink underside). See images below.
